My journey as a professional in the mental health field funnily began with music. I studied voice at Mount Allison University and received my Bachelor of Music in 2017. At this time, I became interested in the psychology of music and its incredible power to affect our body, mind, and emotions. I received my certificate in music therapy from Acadia University in 2019 and since this time have supported various populations in the mental health field. In my work as a Music Therapist, I became passionate about supporting clients who had experienced trauma and adverse childhood experiences which pushed me to pursue a career as a Psychotherapist. I completed my Master of Counselling Psychology with Yorkville University and am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

In my work as a psychotherapist, I create a warm and safe space for clients to freely express themselves and believe that this safety and compassion acts as the foundation for change. I work collaboratively with clients in creating a treatment plan that accommodates their unique needs and to provide them with the tools they need to promote the change they wish to see.

I am passionate in supporting those who have experienced relational and/or childhood developmental trauma in their lives and for this reason take a trauma informed approach in my work. When trauma is left unprocessed, it can become stored within our nervous system and can have impacts on our daily lives and keep us from living the life we desire. I offer Eye Movement and Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, a form of trauma treatment that can help trauma survivors process and heal their trauma.

Hi, I’m Julia.

On a professional and personal level, I understand that the challenges we face in our lives can sometimes leave us feeling like something is wrong with us or as though we are broken in some way. In my work I strive to challenge this stigma and believe that no matter what phase of our journey we are on, that we are always whole and complete just as we are.
